In 2018, Dan decided to go on his first backpacking trip ever wit his wife and two friends. That trip was the JMT (or Nüümü Poyo in Paiute): over 220 miles for 20 days, culminating atop Mt. Whitney at an elevation of 14,505’. Dan was bit by the backpacking bug. In 2021 Dan made a thru-hike attempt (turned LASH, Long Ass Section Hike) of the PCT and hiked over 1,200 miles from Campo to Quincy before getting off trail. This is where ANDA begins.
Dan wanted to combine his love for hiking with the desire to craft something tangible in this digital world. So he bought a sewing machine and started making Ultra Light gear that he would want to use on future backpacking adventures. ANDA is about enjoying more with less. ANDA uses 100% recycled fabrics whenever possible, recycled packaging and sews fabric trimmings into other fun gear like stuff sacks, wallets and food bags.
