I'm so thankful GGG exists and I'm happy to support this deserving company with my retail dollars. If I have any complaints it's that I want more...more meal options, more backpacking gadgets I didn't know I needed, more connections to the small outdoor gear companies they bring to us. You all are doing a fantastic job and we're so lucky to know where to turn to for supplying our adventures. You're a breath of fresh (mountain) air!
Been a traditional outdoor shopper my whole life, much love to REI and EMS, but GGG is on another level! The variety and diversity of gear they carry is incredible, not to mention cutting edge. Love you all!
I just recently found GGG and I will never be the same!! I shaved 15lbs from my pack and most of my gear has been able to receive a considerable upgrade!! I would recommend this to anyone who loves being outside and just wants to make their time outdoors more comfortable. Love this site. I think I have placed 5 orders in 2 weeks ha!
These folks are the best. They are quick to mail out orders and they back it up with great service even when it is a factory issue and not theirs.

Pros:
Great selection, curated and useful. Lots of 'little things' that are hard or impossible to find all in one place anywhere else.
Prices ~ match other locations, some products are only marginally cheaper on Amazon. Glad to buy here as opposed to supporting Bezos any more.
Cons:
Easy to spend too much, but at least its all for gear I'll actually *use*. While I know I don't *need* more things, it is enticing and addictive getting them. 1-800-GEAR-ADDICTION hotline.

I ordered some things and recieved my order in a timely manner but one item was wrong so emailed them and told them what had happend and pretty much before I put my phone down I had an email saying my item was ready to ship. I thought "but i hadnt ordered anything" then I recieved the email saying sorry for the SNAFU lol screw up basically and that my item was on its way out the door. With that kind of customer service they have earned a customer for life!!

I ordered some gear for a Christmas gift and unfortunately USPS dropped the ball and did not get it delivered until well after Christmas. I've made 4 or 5 orders so far and never had a single hiccup. The most recent order, I bought a Brunton monocular. I was so excited to try it and went to clean the lens and the product unfortunately broke. One single email to GGG and within a couple hours they sent the tracking number of a warranty replacement that was being shipped directly to me. A++ for customer service.

I found things online I didn't know I needed like powdered soap and toothpaste tabs. I am excited about my Gossamer umbrella and the sit pad.

I carried a 120lb rucksack for nearly 15 years in the Army as a Paratrooper and Forward Observer. Now I’m an avid hiker and ruck marching competitor. Every nano gram you can shed of pack weight is a nano gram of energy you don’t burn up and a nano gram less painful to carry long distance. GGG products help solve this dilemma and I especially like access to products from small businesses worldwide.
While the gear is great, shipping leaves much to be desired. Site says over certain amount shipping is free but it’s not (at least to Europe). I know that I live and ship to Europe but it shouldn’t say that it’ll be free if it isn’t. Other than that great place to shop for gear.
I have purchased countless pieces of gear for my kit from GGG, and none have disappointed! Their shipping and prices are reasonable. They also respond to any concerns if you contact them, personally. What a concept! They helped me get my gear on time for a last minute trip I embarked on and I can’t overstate how helpful and responsive they were: absolutely floored. GGG is my go to for anything backpacking!
A friend gifted me a Dyneema bag, which introduced me to ultralight gear, and I fell in love. Unfortunately, the seams on the bag blew open after years of use by him and me. I contacted GGG, and they said they could help if I could get the original order number, which my friend still had. They issued me some store credit, which I was going to use to buy the same bag; sadly, it's out of stock. But one thing that is not out of stock is all the random gadgets, gizmos, and gear on this site. I ended up getting a new mini flashlight and some hygiene gear. 10/10 stuff and will shop again (I only have 111 items on my wishlist). :)

Just received my Zenbivy Ultralight Mattress 🤗 haven’t had the chance to use it on a trip yet but tried it out in my living room & SUPER COMFORTABLE!! As always, GGG came through with great customer service!! I’ve done business with GGG for several years & will continue to go to them for all my backpacking/Ultralight needs. I love how they feature cottage companies & I recommend them to everybody :)
Have now placed my second order with Garage Grown Gear. The first arrived in reasonable time, intact in a robust box, sensibly packed, and everything supplied per the order. Good quality gear - GGG offers a wide catalogue of equipment and accessories ideally suited to both the UL & non-UL hiker. Have been recommending GGG to people I have met on trail when the conversation has touched on the subject of specific gear.
With backpacking and outdoor recreation exploding the past decade, there's an explosion of gear options everywhere. Some of it's great, most of it sucks; so it's amazing to have a website that curates the best of the best and makes it easy to find good companies and solid gear!
GGG is everything REI wants to be and everything Amazon can never be; you occasionally might find the same gear somewhere else a teensy bit cheaper, but if you care about the internet not sucking it's well worth the money to spend it here instead. "Cottage" brands or not, GGG is doing the work of finding good gear and having reviews you can actually trust aren't spam nonsense. It's my favorite place to buy anything on the internet.
Okay, the day before New Year’s Eve, as having no date or hot plans for tomorrow night, what is a better fun and wallet poor (but with great savings and excitement), way to spend my time and money? GGG has been my “ go to,” for new and innovative gear for a few years now. Although some brands are simply not “ cottage gear” anymore, (I.e. HMG, Gossamer Gear), it’s still the best place for checking out new stuff. Shipping is always quick and I’ve received a hand signed thank you note before! Keep rockin’ GGG!
