Xero Shoes founder Steven Sashen got into sprinting at the age of 45 (after a 30-year break). And for about two years he was getting injured constantly. A friend suggested he try barefoot running and he handed Steven a copy of Born To Run, the bestseller by Christopher McDougall (at that time it wasn’t a very popular book).
Inspired by Born To Run and a love of feeling the ground under his feet, he decided to make his own huaraches ultralight running sandals. People seemed to like them, and he and his wife Lena started Xero Shoes! The Xero Shoes line has since evolved to include lightweight sandals and minimalist running shoes.
