Steven Sashen got into sprinting at the age of 45 after a 30 year break. And for about two years he was getting injured constantly. A friend suggested he try barefoot running as a cure for his injuries and he handed Steven a copy of Born To Run, the best-seller by Christopher McDougall (at that time it wasn’t a very popular book). Inspired byBorn To Run and a love of feeling the ground under his feet, he decided to make his own huaraches ultralight running sandals. People seemed to like them, and he and his wife Lena started Xero Shoes!
