For Greg, an Aleut Alaskan-native, Saunter Packs began as a hobby. After completing the PCT SOBO in 2018 carrying a pack that his thru-hiking buddy made him, he requested one for keeps. Instead, Greg was invited over and shown the ropes of MYOG. After some time clocked on the sewing machine, he got hooked, crafting packs for his wife and friends, then really getting into a rhythm with the onset of quarantine. Slowly he fine-tuned his skills and went public. Since many thru hikers obsess over miles, Greg included, he decided on Saunter for the name to be a subtle reminder to take it easy from time to time and enjoy being in the outdoors.
2021 has been a hectic year with the dual events of his brother's passing and his son being welcomed into the world, so he's put on hold on all custom orders to focus on drops for batch orders from folks like us at GGG.
