NW Alpine's newest line up of hardshell apparel features Intrepid, a PFAS free polypropylene (PP) membrane made by Trenchant Textiles. Its nano porous structure makes it the lightest, most breathable waterproof membrane on the market. The fact that it is PFAS-free, solvent free, and (when paired with PP fabrics) recyclable, means that intrepid fabrics are also the most environmentally sustainable waterproof/breathable membrane. (More on that below*.)
Classic NW Alpine fit with long arms to allow for freedom of movement and full range of motion. The 2.5 Layer construction eliminates the need for a heavy fabric backer which allows the jacket to have unparalleled breathability and packability. Membrane is 20k x 20k waterproof/breathability.

*The leading waterproof/breathable fabric brand is made from PFAS-based PTFE, a bio accumulating molecule that is 15 times worse for the environment than the PP which Intrepid is made from. Cheaper polyurethane (PU)-based membranes are less toxic, but most are made with solvents, are far less durable than PP, and lack air permeability.
