Lloyd Vogel

It's a new edition of The Cache, your bi-weekly roundup for all things ultralight. New gear, new brands, interesting events, curious conversations, sales, giveaways, and just about anything and everything that we find remotely relevant. This week we look at: Backcountry Edge's rebrand, PCT Days, the new Sobata Knife by Vargo, and Tread Lite Gear.

From Backcountry Edge to EnwildENwild

After 15 years in the biz, Backcountry Edge has rebranded itself as Enwild. Known for their informational videos and reviews, rebranding is perhaps the most difficult thing a company can do. When asked what prompted the change, EnWild responded, "We wanted something completely unique, easy to remember, and better suited to our style ... it just felt right." Best of luck you peddler of mostly big brand gear. We've heard nothing but good things about you and your customer service!

Sobata Knife by VargoSobata Knife

If spending every other second of my waking life doing something pertaining to ultralight backpacking has taught me anything, it's that when you see something really expensive and labeled ultralight you know its got to be good! OKAY, I'm kidding, but the new Sobata Knife by Vargo does look pretty "knifty."
